What is the 8 – 12 rule in weight training?

Once great way to keep your mind sharp and your body fit is to have an active strength building program in your life. This could involve hiking, rock climbing, swimming or going to the gym what ever motivates you and helps your body build strength.

If you are looking to build muscle and you are new to using weights world class Doctors Mehmet Oz and Michael Roizen recommend you use the 8 / 12 rule.

The 8 / 12 rules is as follows:

Choose a weight light enough that you can do the exercise eight times but heavy enough that you can’t do it 12 times.
