The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People

A QUICK BOOK REVIEW BY DAVID HENNESSEY

In fact, I mention more than one book here since they are all on the same topic and written by people from the same family. The books are

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens

The 7 Habits of Happy Kids

The 8th Habit

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Dr. Stephen R. Covey is a modern day classic. It was first published in 1989 and I read it just after it was published on the recommendation of a friend. In my opinion it is still as valuable today as when it was first released. The Habits Dr. Covey wrote about helped and continue to help positively revolutionize many people and many companies. The habits are as follows:

Habit 1: Be Proactive

Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind

Habit 4: Think win win

Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to understood

Habit 6: Synergize

Habit 7: Sharpen the saw

The book is filled with valuable information explaining the habits and how to form them. There are many details so it may take you time to work your way through reading the book but it is worth it since an understanding of Dr. Covey’s idea have helped me (and I believe) will help you to communicate better and become a more successful, happier, healthier person. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey One of Dr. Covey’s sons Sean (also a happy Dad) wrote a book titled The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens I read this book too and I found it took many of the idea of Dr. Covey’s and explained them in less detailed language making it easier to explain to teens. If you have teens or work with teens I recommend you get a copy. Sean also wrote an illustrated book for Children The 7 habits of Happy Kids. It uses a host of wonderful characters to share how children can embrace life nourishing habits. It is worth checking out via this link The 7 Habits of Happy Kids

Please Note: If you are looking for great books for raising healthy children another great books I read and did a short review on is Mind Power for Children located here

Dr. Covey also wrote a follow up book called The Eight Habit find more more via this link The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness
