Yes, the picture was just to grab your attention and get you to FOCUS on the article:

***

I’ve seen many troubles in my time, only half of which ever came true – Mark Twain

Depending on how well you know me, you may or may not know that when I was younger I used to worry a lot probably every minute about every single thing that was happening or may be going to happen.

I don’t know why but somehow I got attracted to the idea of worry at a young age and we became friends. Today, we are no longer friends and I daily keep an eye out for Mr. or Mrs. W (and their children) and do my very best to avoid them entering my life.

Here are a couple of things I do daily to stop the worry habit:

***

One
I Define the Challenge and Set a Goal
If there is something I can do about the situation like a lack of work, a lack of friends, a lack of food then I make a plan to take action. If there is nothing I can do about it I can’t take any action so I let it go and I immediately focus on the things that I can change in my life. See if this can work for you.

If you need help to set a new goal this article will help you – Smart Goal setting

You will also find the idea of using my FREE goals cards helpful to nourish your daily successes. Find out how you can get your free goal card template here.

***

Two
I Live in a Day Tight Compartment
When I was about 16 I read a book by Dale Carnegie called ‘How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. ‘Live in a Day Tight Compartment’ was the title of one of the chapters.

The idea is that at the end of the day as you go asleep you accept you did the best you could do that day and do not bring worried thoughts to bed with you. If you have concerns and you can change them then write a note to yourself about the action you need to take. Take the note and put it in your time planner (or in your shoes so you remember it) and take care of the action the next day. Then go to bed and enjoy a restful sleep.

***

Three
See the Problem as Someone Else’s Problem
If I have a challenge and I am not sure how to handle it rather than worrying about it I like to apply a concept I learned from a friend. He told me look at the situation as if it was someone else’s problem. Then offer yourself the same advice you would offer a person who told you they had the problem.

You know we all can give very good advice when we are telling friends about what to do. We don’t encourage the friend to worry. We tell them to act or just to forget about it. Thinking in the third person can help dissolve a challenge.

***

There you go – that is three things I use. Of course, after many years working on my own personal development as well as helping other people I have a few more ideas that I will share with you in the future. Try out these three for starters.

If you are curious to read more about Dale Carnegie’s classic book details plus over 140 reviews are on Amazon – check out this link to learn about How to Stop Worrying and Start Living Last time I looked Amazon had it available on a deep discount special. Nice.

Yes, I still have my own copy of this book. It is a classic I recommend you read or get for a friend who needs it.

Enjoy a happy day,

David

Whether you work in front of a computer all day or in front of people all day life can definitely be stressful and some people smoke to reduce the impact of stress on their body. But most of us know that smoking can lead to lung cancer and we eventually quit smoking.

What can you do if you have quit smoking and you want to strengthen your body against the possibility of cancer occurring?

Well, research from a European long term study involving over half a million participants study has indicated that people with high levels of B6 and methionine in their blood stream may be less at risk for lung cancer.

The study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association indicates once again how our diet can have a great impact on how our body manages stress.

Notes on B6, Methionine and food sources:

The B vitamins help to maintain the health of the nerves and reduce the impact of mental and physical stress on the body. B 6 also known as Pyridoxine can be found in food including but are not limited to carrots, eggs, spinach, chicken, peas and brown rice. (Reference: Prescription for Nutritional Healting.)

Methionine is an essential amino acid that assists in the breakdown of fats in the body helping prevent a build up of fat in the liver and arteries that may block blood flow to the brain, heart and other organs. It is also a powerful antioxidant which might explain why it help reduce the impact of smoking. Methionine sources in food include garlic, onions, eggs and lentils. (Reference: Prescription for Nutritional Healting.)

As you know I am not a Doctor so when you make any dietary changes see professional medical advice. I simply wish to keep you up to date.

By the way, if you don’t have a copy of Prescription for Nutritional Healing (over 5 million copies have been sold) this book shows which foods contain certain vitamins and minerals. I have a copy and I recommend you get a copy. Simply follow this link Prescription for Nutritional Healing to read more about this book and other books like it.

Also, if you wish to read the full details on this report you can read the scientific report here (it is technical). You can also read samples of news reports here and here.

Best Wishes,

Hi, I believe one of the most wonderful practices to embrace in life is an attitude of Gratitude, to be simply thankful for whatever you (and I) are blessed with at this very moment in life.

Sometimes this is easy when the Sun is shining and everyone is being kind to you. Sometimes this is not easy since you may be feeling unhealthy, unhappy and financially broke. But if you have attended any of my seminars over the last ten years you know I firmly believe that where you focus your mind will get you the results of your focus. So focusing on being grateful for the positive experiences no matter how small at least keeps you focused on the good things and this has helped me personally pull through some tough times.

Today I would like to suggest you ‘Enjoy the Joy’ of making a ‘Call of Gratitude’. This simply involves taking up the phone and calling someone and giving them thanks for something that you remember positively they did for you whether it is a friend who picked you up in their car when it was raining last week, the employer who gave you a job after months of searching or the doctor who years ago helped you pull through an illness. Imagine how good you would feel if someone called you today to thank you for something you did in the past.

Now make someone’s day – make that call of gratitude!

Enjoy the experience,

David

P.S. If you are looking for a wonderful book that is a quick read and can help you empower your life so it is a strong magnet for health, happiness and prosperity just follow this link to read my review of the classic ‘As a Man Thinketh‘ or read about other books to nourish your life reviewed here.
