You most likely have read over and over again the idea that the power of words is incredible in its ability to change your world from negative to positive. The whole positive affirmation concept is based on this including the Mini Motivational Cards I designed shown in the image above.

Unfortunately, when you use an affirmation no matter how many times you use it the affirmation will not work without you using a secret ingredient.

The secret ingredient is not visualization even though visualization is important. The secret ingredient is the emotional content you use in the visualization.

If you create a positive emotional image in your mind while you are repeating a related positive affirmation your mind is more likely to embrace what you are saying and help you create what you want in your reality. Without the emotional link you are often doomed to failure.

I wish when I was younger I knew about this because it is a very important idea that is often left out of personal development literature.

Now, perhaps, you disagree but the importance of positive emotional imagery is not my idea.

These ideas come from the work of Dr. Emile Coué, Author of How to Practice Suggestion and Autosuggestion which was written over half a century ago and from the work of José Silva, Author of The Silva Mind Control Method that began to be recognized in the 1970s.

Please note the titles of these books sometimes turn off people because they think the books are about controlling other people. In fact, both these books are about powering our own minds and not about controlling other people.

It is worth noting Emile Coué inspired the work of José Silva and Silva’s work I have read on his books has influenced positively over six million people to date in 111 countries.

What do you think?

All I can say is I have read both these gentleman’s work and I use it daily. I have recommended it to thousands of people at seminars so today I recommend you get copies of these books when you have time and, of course, if you have the interest.

Coué’s book How to Practice Suggestion and Autosuggestion is not easy to come in its original version. I found a dusty old copy in an old library in Canada. Most versions for sale are photocopies of the original but that is good enough to read and worth seeking out.

Silva’s work is easier to find and the book The Silva Mind Control Method is the best starting point in my opinion.

Have you heard of Coué or Silva’s work before?

I welcome your comments and feedback as always.

Your friend on the journey,

David

P.S. Coué’s work is rarely cited but I did find it noted in one recent best seller I read by Mark Victor Hansen called The One Minute Millionaire

Hennessey

To help grow success and reduce success in our lives we must use the great activator in our brains to sew the right seeds in the first place everyday. There is no other way. The great activator is our conscious mind that we can use moment to moment to program our subconscious mind to help us create all we want in our lives.

BUT BE WARNED the conscious mind can be dangerous to your mental wellness since it does not judge between good or bad. If you think negative thoughts it passes them unfiltered to your subconscious mind to build your future. The thoughts then become the materials you use to create your future actions.

This information is not new but still less than five percent of people really use their minds in a manner that will reduce stress and increase success. Most people leave it all to chance and chances are they will only reach part of their personal potential during their lifetime.

The following ideas will help you use your mind more effectively:

One

Know deep inside that your subconscious mind is like a garden of rich soil and your conscious mind is the farmer sowing the seeds. The soil is alive and willing to support and nourish all you plant but if you sow negative thoughts (seeds of doubt and failure) you can only reap negative experiences. It is impossible to grow oranges if you plant thorn seeds. You only reap what you sow.

Two

Like the farmer, you need to check the garden of your mind daily to make sure it is healthy by removing any unwanted seeds of destruction (negative thoughts). Some of these thoughts can be hidden in being overly critical of yourself and others or in simply harbouring the thought that you cannot improve your life even thought you want to. This means you need to be very conscious of what you say and think. Most people fail here since they do not want to take the time to make the habit to monitor their minds.

Three

Like a farmer, you need to water the positive seeds in the garden of your mind by adding daily more samples of the same thoughts to build on what is already in place and then you must follow up your mental desire with action.

Four

Use the available tools that help you harness the power of your mind.

* Visit the resource section and read about Mini Motivational Cards

* Use CDs, like I do, including The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale – I wrote about this excellent personal development tool in this article.

* Read this article on Autosuggestion.

* Read empowering books. For example, I read The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy and As A Man Thinketh
by James Allen.

Continued Success and Wellness to you,

David

Hennessey

There has been days when I have woke up in the morning and wondered ‘Okay, what do I need to get done today?’ When I have this thought I know I am in trouble when it comes to my personal time management.

After many years testing and retesting time management systems that I have come across to help me achieve more effectively my daily goals I realized that I needed an ‘action list’ often called a ‘to do’ list BUT I recently realized I was reviewing my ‘to do list’ at the wrong time of day.

I had been reviewing my list first thing in the morning when I needed to review it briefly as one of the last things I did at night.

When I review my list as one of my last things at night (note: my to do list includes personal, family and work items) I can confirm they are definitely actions ‘to do’ and not actions ‘not to do’.

Then as I go to sleep I set my subconscious mind to work on the successful completion of the tasks the next day. This helps me have clear thoughts of motivation when I wake up. So I get out of bed with my priorities already established for a fulfilling day.

Yes, I do look at my list in the morning as I start to take action but I know it is what I want to do because I planned it the night before.

Note: If my ‘to do list’ is not inspiring enough to get me out of bed I definitely need to review the list and put priorities on their or the list is more of a ‘Not to do’ list.

Remember you can learn how to be time effective so you can do more of what you want to do by reducing the stress in your life. Request a copy of my FREE eWorkbook via the form on the right of this page and see if you are missing any of the 19 steps I share to help make your life more fulfilling and less overwhelming.

Your friend on the journey,
