Practice Does Not Make Perfect

Today on the way to a business appointment I was listening to an educational CD that featured an interview with Harvey Mackay the renowned entrepreneur who wrote the best selling books Swim with the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive and Beware the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt.

In this interview Mr. Mackay made a subtle yet powerful change to the old saying ‘Practice makes Perfect’. He said “practice does not make perfect unless you are doing the right thing. If you continue to practice a bad golf swing you are perfecting a bad habit but not making anything better. In business, practicing the same bad customer service again and again does not make it better.”

Think of Mr. MacKay’s words as you practice the steps you take in your life to nourish your personal and professional development. Is there something you are practicing that needs to change?

I am going to keep a closer eye on what I am doing.

Are you practicing the right habits today?

Your friend on the journey,

David
