How to Change Lifelong and Self-Defeating Thinking Habits

The title of this post is the subtitle of a book by Dr. Wayne Dyer. The main title is Excuses-Begone.

In this book Dr. Dyer works on helping us change the self defeating thinking patterns that prevent us from experiencing health, happiness and success in our lives. It is more than about what to think it is about changing those habits.

One of the first steps in changing habits is to program into your mind new phrases to replace the old self defeating negative ones.

Some samples of thought substitution in Excuses Begone are these phrases below:

One

If you think ‘It will be difficult

Dyer’s says when you start thinking this replace with

‘I have the ability to accomplish any task I set my mind to with ease and comfort’

**

Two

If you think ‘It will be risky

Dyer’s says when you start thinking this replace with

‘Being myself involves no risks. It is my ultimate truth, and I live it fearlessly.’

**

Three

If you think ‘I can’t afford it

Dyer’s says when you start thinking this replace with

‘I am connected to an unlimited source of abundance’

**
